Jeffrey M. Cooper is a personal injury and medical malpractice trial attorney at the law firm Cooper Sevillano, LLC located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Over the last twenty years Mr. Cooper has developed a reputation for his outstanding efforts advocating for the seriously injured. Mr. Cooper's practice involves representing people who have been harmed by medical malpractice including birth injury, surgical and anesthesia errors, misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis, medication management and inadequate treatment, as well as those injured in vehicle accidents, fall downs, by defective products, on construction sites and as a result of negligence.
Many of Mr. Cooper's clients have unfortunately suffered life-changing circumstances such as stroke, paralysis, traumatic brain injury, limb amputation, wrongful death and other catastrophic losses that are impossible to predict or plan for. Recognized as a skilled negotiator and creative problem solver, it is when Mr. Cooper is on his feet in the courtroom where his true passions lie and where his unique skills truly shine. To this day, deep hunger and desire to be the best is what motivates Mr. Cooper. He spends a vast amount of time when he is technically not working reading and studying about how to become a better courtroom advocate for his clients. Mr. Cooper's ability and his willingness to try difficult or challenging cases is what separates him from the majority of other attorneys. Over the last several years, Mr. Cooper has obtained verdicts and settlements during trial including:
$4.2 million verdict in mismanagement of anticoagulation for minor surgical procedure resulting in stroke;
$2.8 million verdict for motorcyclist struck and killed by drunk driver;
$2.5 million for improper extubation of nasogastric tube;
$2.0 million for failure to diagnose prostate cancer;
$1.5 million for traumatic brain injury in vehicular accident;
$1.25 million for intestinal complications after abdominal surgery; and
$1.2 million for spinal surgery resulting in nerve damage.
In addition, Mr. Cooper has handled important cases for clients injured in less catastrophic circumstances and has obtained verdicts of $330,000, $250,000, $175,000 and $98,000 where the offers going into trial were zero.
It is important to note that every case is different, every client is unique and the amount of money recovered depends upon a variety of factors. Mr. Cooper believes that more important than past results is coming through and delivering for his existing clients in the present. While he is certainly proud of his achievements including many years as a SuperLawyer, his top rating with Avvo, as a Top 100 National Trial Lawyer and as a member of ABOTA, Mr. Cooper receives far more satisfaction from fighting for his clients and forcing the opposition to fix and make up for the unnecessary harm they caused, hopefully making the community a little safer along the way for everyone else.
