Vehicle Accidents

Unfortunately, vehicle accidents are a common occurrence. However, if you’d been injured in a vehicle accident, you know that it can have long-term consequences. If you’ve been the victim of a vehicle accident, we can help you get the justice and compensation you deserve to make it right.

Our areas of expertise include:

Aviation Accidents

Aviation accidents are among the most complex of all types of accident claims. The injuries involved are particularly severe and often result in death. In addition, the potential causes of an aviation accident may be difficult to identify. An aviation accident may result from mechanical failure, design flaws, pilot error, Air Traffic Control negligence, terrorist activity, bird strikes, maintenance failures, or a combination of these causes. When there are multiple causes to an accident, there may be numerous responsible parties and types of claims. We will help you investigate and navigate the aftermath of this type of accident and understand your options.

Car Accidents

Accidents happen. When they do, you may be emotionally overwhelmed and unsure of how to proceed. If you or someone you love is injured in a car accident it is important to find an attorney who can help you navigate the process and maximize your results. We will assist you with all stages of your personal injury claim, from handling endless calls with insurance companies to aggressively fighting your case in the courtroom should it go to trial.

Bicycle Accidents

With more and more people in Connecticut turning to bicycles for entertainment, exercise and transportation, there has been a marked increase in bicycle accidents, often leading to severe injuries or death. Most towns and cities do not provide marked bicycle lanes and drivers of motorized vehicles do not understand that they must share the road with cyclists. Even where there are bicycle lanes, drivers do not always follow traffic rules or respect cyclists. Sometimes bicycle lanes and bike paths are unsafe or have not been properly maintained. In other instances, your bicycle or helmet may be defective leading to an accident or a more severe injury. When there are multiple causes to an accident, there may be numerous responsible parties and types of claims.

Highway Defects

Connecticut’s roads and highways are amongst the most heavily traveled in the country, leaving a significant number of bridges, overpasses, exit ramps, and roads in disrepair. Some roads were poorly or improperly designed. Others are improperly maintained and we are forced to commute on roads riddled with potholes, uneven pavement, inadequate drainage and other hazards. Even the most alert drivers may have difficulties avoiding an accident when encountering road or highway defects. Unfortunately, accidents caused by road defects often lead to serious injury or even death. In these cases, victims may be entitled to compensation for their injuries.

Hit and Run Accidents

All car accidents are traumatic.  If you are involved in an accident with a driver who flees the scene, you may feel particularly helpless.  If you have been injured by a hit and run driver, you still may be able to recover for your injuries even if the driver has evaded responsibility.  If the driver is later identified, our attorneys may be able to help you with your claim against their insurance company.  If the driver remains unknown, it may be possible for you to receive compensation under the “uninsured motorist” insurance coverage in your policy or the policy covering the vehicle you were occupying during the accident.

Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcycles have long been part of the Connecticut driving landscape. Nonetheless, drivers of cars and trucks sometimes feel uncomfortable sharing the road with motorcycles or simply don’t see them, leading to disastrous results. Connecticut drivers have a responsibility to keep a lookout for smaller vehicles on the road, and can be held liable if they fail to take care, resulting in an accident or injury.

Railroad Accidents

Thankfully, railroad accidents and derailments are becoming less and less frequent. When they occur, however, they often result in serious injury. Railroad accident claims can be particularly complex. The injuries involved are particularly severe and may result in death. In addition, the potential causes of the accident may be difficult to identify. A railroad accident may result from mechanical failure, design flaws, engineer error, defective signals or dangerous crossings, inclement weather, maintenance failures or a combination of these causes. We can help you navigate the legal process and receive just compensation for your injuries.

Pedestrian Accidents

Car accidents involving pedestrians are amongst the most devastating. These accidents often involve the most vulnerable in our communities, such as children walking to and from school or an elderly citizen trying to cross the street. Drivers may hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk because they are distracted by their cell phones or watching the traffic rather than for pedestrians. Such injuries can leave you unable to work or in need of long term hospital care and rehabilitation. In addition, in the wake of such an injury there are very real emotional consequences which must be addressed. If you or someone you love has been injured or killed by a driver while a pedestrian, we are here to help.

Truck Accidents

With three major and several minor trucking routes crisscrossing the state of Connecticut, residents are involved in hundreds of truck accidents each year, often resulting in serious injury or death. Accidents with commercial trucks are often more complex than other car accidents. There may be many responsible parties and multiple sources of recovery. Truck accidents may be caused by driver fatigue, alcohol or drug use, lack of driver training, schedule overload leading to speeding, failure to adapt to poor driving conditions, and poor vehicle maintenance or defective brakes or tires. We will investigate all avenues of recovery, including from the driver, his employer, the truck’s owner, and anyone responsible for the truck’s maintenance.

Uninsured and Underinsured Motorist Accidents

If you have been injured in a car accident, you may be emotionally overwhelmed and unsure how to proceed. What if the other driver doesn’t have insurance? In Connecticut, if the other driver was at fault, you are probably covered under the uninsured motorist (UM) or underinsured motorist coverage (UIM) in your own insurance policy. This can present complications when you try to seek compensation. While your insurance company is normally on your side, this is not the case when you are making a claim under your own policy. The insurance company may take an adverse position and may not explain your rights under the policy and may not fully pay your claim for damages. We can assist you in making a UM/UIM claim. We will talk to your insurance company for you, fully explain your rights, and make certain that you are fully compensated under your policy. Remember, if an uninsured driver hits and injures you, you have a right to collect from your own insurance policy.
